YU, LUO & ZHOU (2005) accurately describe the distributional range of Lepturichthys fimbriata. The species is endemic to China and limited to the Yangtze River basin. It is spread over the middle branches of the Yangtze River. L. fimbriata dwells in northern and southern tributaries, but not in the main stream of the Yangtze River itself.
