A days trip through the north-western region of Lesotho
Lesotho is a small autonomous enclave in the highlands of central South Africa. There is no much water, but the sources of the mighty Orange River are scattered in the Lesotho highland water scheme in around 3000 m height. I traveled through the North-West; the East in difficult to access due to the Drakensberg, a mountain ridge running North to South with a eastward slant at about half the way. The highest peak of the Drakensberg ridge is Thabana Ntlenyana with 3482 m height.
The mountain range in the background is Thaba Putsoa at around 3000 m asl; road A2 northward.
Along the road A2 towards Maseru there was a auto recycling; I found a Opel Manta A. This car was manufactured during 1970-1975 in Ruesselsheim / Germany.
The Makhaleng River is a major tributary to the Orange River headwaters.
Biotope E-LS 01-09 is the only spot I fished in Lesotho.
The caught: large tadpoles...
A public telephone on the road A2 towards the capital Maseru.
I went into a store and bought some breakfast. Actually I bought what they had; tuna (imported), orange juice (imported), bread...
And had breakfast on the road.
Picture shows road A2 towards the North. Finally I left Lesotho through the Maseru border station; stayed less than 24 h in Lesotho, but spent a night there.
