Continuation - Turkey 2009

Lake Acigol

The next fishing spots were along the southern and eastern coast of Lake Acigol. I headed over Dinar taking highway 320 southwards.

Turkey Acigol Lake

Picture shows the extremely broad sand beaches along the southern shore of Lake Acigol.

The picture has been taken at around 7:00 am. Thus, the sun was still at a rather low position generating long shadows. I needed to photograph against the sun; extremely difficult circumstances for a good picture.

Biotope E-TR 05-09 is a small hill stream creek running into Lake Acigol. There was plenty of emersely growing vegetation.

Plenty of frogs in the creek.

Turkey Acigol Lake

The eastern shore of Lake Acigol provides shelter to many bird, reptile, insect and amphibian species. It is rich in biodiversity; the human impact into this wetland eco-system is low for the time being.

Allothonous Gambusia affinis were cruising the water in shoals of up to 30 individuals. This alien species seemed to outcompete native cyprinodontiformes.

Lake Egirdir

After visiting lakes Burdur and Acigol I was heading north towards the Black Sea passing by Lake Egirdir, which is an important fresh water receptacle for Turkey. Hence, around Egirdir city there are some military camps installed.

Tarakli

On my way to the Yedigoller Lakes I passed by Lake Hasanlar Baraji

The trip there is not worth the effort.

All lakes are more or less natural...

Road Yedigoller-Bolu features highlands, ever lasting snow and rough roads.

Lake Abant is a Turkish holiday destination.

The town of Tarakli is well worth going there for its well preserved buildings.
